The Perfect Summer Day

It’s summer again and there is color everywhere. It’s all about colorful outfits, light brunch, mimosas, and hats. For those who choose to spend their time at the beach or pool, it’s all about swimsuits, cover-ups and beach bags. Also, don’t forget your sunscreen. So what are the best and most efficient ways to have a fun summer? Some of you just got out of school or are taking some of your paid vacation time to enjoy the summer months of sun and fun. However, it can get overwhelming trying to figure out how to spend all the free time doing fun activities, being outdoors and spending time with friends. So here’s a guide on how to spend the perfect summer day. From breakfast to dinner and all the fun activities in-between, let’s get down to planning the perfect day.

Breakfast and/or Brunch

Some say breakfast is the best meal of the day. What makes it even better is breakfast with friends. You know that friend you keep saying you’ll hang out with but never have time to? Summer is the time to rekindle lost connections and it’s best done over breakfast or brunch. It’s also a good time to try out new restaurants around your neighborhood or a different neighborhood and then take it as a time to explore that neighborhood. If you decide to have breakfast at home, you can have it on the balcony or patio or the backyard.

 Go Shopping

Everything is extra fun in the summer and that includes shopping. With the summer months in full sunny weather, you’ve most likely put away your fall and winter clothes. So it’s time to bring out the summer clothes and stock up on new items. Just like trying to figure out what to do with your free time, it can also get overwhelming trying to figure out what to buy and how to have the perfect summer closet. There are some summer basics you should have which I’ll talk about in a bit. First off, let’s talk about how to go about your shopping. Shopping can be a good time to bond with friends and explore the city but it’s also very fulfilling to go shopping alone or shop online so you can properly browse through and take your time in picking out the perfect items you need for your summer closet. Some summer essentials a girl should have in her closet are, swimsuits, coverups, a maxi dress, shorts, airy t-shirts and crop tops, beach bags and sandals.

Pool/Beach Time

Going to the beach or spending time at the pool is a good way to socialize and have a good time in the summer. Going to the beach or pool is also a good time to spend some alone time and read a book, listen to a podcast or just relax. Take the most advantage of the nice weather and sun and spend as much time outdoors. You can also go for a run along the beach and catch the sunset. Whatever you do, just make sure you’re having a good time.

Explore Your City

Summer time is a good time to explore your city. Go to new neighborhoods, or neighborhoods you don’t frequent. Try out that new cafe or a new restaurant. Check out the city museum or art center or just go for a walk or drive without your GPS. Most of us get too comfortable or stale in our daily routine that we forget to take a step back and just live. Perhaps your city has a tourist attraction or museum that people travel from far and wide to visit, when last did you visit it? Take advantage of your proximity and be a tourist in your own city for one day. I guarantee you'll enjoy it.

Go to a Festival or Free Show

If you’re on the lookout and do a little research you’ll see there a lot of mini concerts, free shows, and festivals in your city or neighboring towns or city that you can attend. A free show in the park is a quintessential summer experience that you should tick off your list.

Rooftop Dinner or Drinks

A warm summer evening is a good time to be outdoors and relax with friends. After your day of exploring, have dinner or drinks with friends or family on a rooftop overlooking your city for an excellent view and airy feeling. If you don’t feel like going out you could do same on your patio or in your backyard.

Go on a Picnic

A picnic is always fun. From preparing fun and delicious snacks for your picnic basket and packing the champagne, it’s all a fun and beautiful experience. Plan a picnic this summer with friends. It’s also an opportunity to try out new snack and appetizer recipes for your picnic basket. Or, it’s also an opportunity to visit that new pastry shop and buy one of everything for the picnic basket. Whether you go on a date, with friends, family, or alone, a picnic is a great way to enjoy a beautiful day, have a nice lunch, and perhaps do something you like to do but never have time for – such as catch up with an old friend, read a book or magazine, draw, write, etc
